Pro round · usability testing, run for you
Five recordings are easy. Knowing what to fix is the slow part.
A Pro round is a usability test we run for you. 5 testers we choose record their screen and think aloud on your app or website, a person checks every session, and you get one summary of the problems ranked by severity, with timestamps. $149 for 5 testers, $279 for 10, back within 5 business days of you approving the plan.

What you get
From a brief to a list of what to fix.
Testers we choose
Picked by hand from the testers with the strongest record on TestFi: at least three approved recordings in the last 90 days, no rejections, and a high quality score on every one.
A test plan you approve
You send a short brief after paying. We turn it into three to six tasks and a few questions, and nobody starts until you approve the plan.
Recordings with the thinking out loud
Each tester uses your app on their own phone or computer, records the screen and says what they expect, what confuses them and why they tap where they tap. They answer your questions out loud at the end.
Every session checked by a person
You see a session once it has been checked. One that misses the brief is replaced with another tester at no cost.
One summary you can forward
The problems ranked by severity, how many testers hit each one, timestamps to the moment it happens, what worked, and a suggested fix. No TestFi branding, so it can go straight to a client or a cofounder.
How a round runs
Nothing starts until you approve the plan.

Three things a Pro round will not do.
Local market research
Most of our testers are in Nigeria, Kenya and India. A Pro round shows where people get confused and what they do not understand. It will not tell you how shoppers in your own city feel about your price.
Numbers to quote
5 or 10 people find problems; they do not give you percentages. If you need a figure for a board deck, you need twenty or more sessions.
Moderated interviews
Sessions are unmoderated: nobody is on a call asking follow-up questions. Your questions are answered out loud in the recording instead.

What is a Pro round?
A Pro round is a remote, unmoderated usability test that TestFi runs for you. 5 testers (or 10) that we choose record their screen while they think aloud on your app or website, a person checks every session, and you get one summary of the problems ranked by severity. It costs $149 for 5 testers or $279 for 10, and the summary arrives within 5 business days of you approving the test plan.
Why five testers?
Jakob Nielsen's long-standing rule of thumb is that about five users find most of the usability problems in one design, and that people after the fifth mostly repeat what the first five showed. Five is right for one user group and one main flow. Ten is right when you have two groups, for example iPhone and Android users, or new and returning users.
How is it different from buying recordings myself?
Self-serve recordings cost $5.99 a tester: you write the test, choose from whoever applies and watch the videos yourself. In a Pro round we write the plan with you, choose the testers, check each session and write the summary, so what you get is a list of what to fix rather than an evening of video.
Where are the testers?
Most TestFi testers are in Nigeria, Kenya and India, and they test on their own devices. That makes a Pro round good for usability and clarity, and the wrong tool for research into one local market.
What do I need to send?
An install link anyone can open (a store link, a public TestFlight link, an open or closed Play testing link with a Google Group, or a web address), a sentence on who your users are, three to six tasks, any questions you want answered, and a test login if the app needs one.
How long does it take?
The order page shows the week your round starts; we take three rounds a week. The summary reaches you within 5 business days of you approving the plan.
Can I send the summary to a client?
Yes. It carries no TestFi branding, so agencies forward it as it is.
What happens if a session is no good?
Every session is checked by a person. One that misses the brief, for example a tester who skipped a task or recorded without talking, is replaced with another tester at no cost to you.
Get the list of what to fix, not a folder of videos.
