Google Play closed testing · Comparison
Closed Test Pro is a community where Android developers test each other's apps to earn listing credits. It is free if you test 12 other apps first, and its Pro ($9.99) and Premium ($21.99) plans skip that step but use the same developer testers. TestFi pays its own testers: 16 of them on your closed track for $39.99, each writing notes on day 7 and day 14, with a free re-run if fewer than 12 make it.

14 more days of testing on paid plans$39.99 flat for 16 testers on your closed track, or $64.99 with five screen recordings. One-time, no subscription, no service fee.
Free if you test 12 other developers' apps to earn 60 credits. Pro is $9.99 per app for 20 testers and Premium $21.99 for 30, paid once, with the same community testers and a priority queue.
Closed Test Pro is cheaper, and free if you have the time to test other apps. The real difference is who tests: on Closed Test Pro it is other developers keeping up their side of a swap, on TestFi it is people paid to use your app and write about it, which is what Google's production access questions ask you to describe.
Its Free plan is: you test 12 other developers' apps to earn the 60 credits that list yours with 12 testers. Pro ($9.99, 20 testers) and Premium ($21.99, 30 testers) skip the credit step and use the same community of developer testers, as of October 2026. TestFi is $39.99 flat for 16 testers.
Android developers from its community, on physical devices, testing each other's apps in exchange for credits. Its paid plans use the same testers. TestFi testers are not trading tests: they are paid for each test, and every one of them writes notes on day 7 and day 14 about how they used your app.
On Closed Test Pro's Pro and Premium plans you get 14 more days of free testing. Its terms say it does not guarantee approval, and its refund covers only a failure to deliver testers. On TestFi, if Google refuses over tester engagement and fewer than 12 testers wrote notes that show real use of your app, forward Google's email within 7 days after the end date and the test runs again at no cost. If fewer than 12 testers are still opted in on day 14, it runs again at no cost too.
If the only goal is to get past the 12-tester gate and you are fine with developer testers who open the app briefly each day, Closed Test Pro is the cheaper way. TestFi costs more because its testers are paid to use the app and write about it, which gives you real material for the questions Google asks about engagement and feedback.
No iOS offer appears on its site, which describes it as an Android app. TestFi's closed test is for Google Play, and its screen recording and written tests also run on iPhone.
Closed Test Pro details were checked on its own website in October 2026. Prices change; check theirs before you buy. More options are compared on Google Play closed testing services.
